Mike Tyson prefers getting paid millions than become a boxing coach

Mike Tyson had one of boxing’s most mythical and legendary coaches un Cus D’Amato, a man who became a father figure for him.

As one of the best Heavyweights of all time, Tyson needed a lot of work and Cus D’Amato was there for him until his untimely death. In fact, Mike grew up without a father and this coach was the father figure he never had.

Unfortunately, he didn’t live to see his greatest student become a world champion but all his teachings remain with Tyson to this day. When you hear him talk shop, you can tell ‘Iron’ Mike is a passionate student of boxing and a boxing history buff. He knows absolutely everything you can imagine about the sport and offers tips to young boxers at every chance he gets.

With age, Mike Tyson also grew into a highly knoledgeable old man with deep philosophical thoughts about life. He would actually be perfect as a boxing coach but Tyson obviously prefers to keep his businesses running. Currently, Mike has his ‘Hot Boxin’ podcast and a highly lucrative cannabis business. There is truly no reason for Tyson to get himself into coaching any time soon.

During a recent episode of his podcast, actress Rosie Perez directly asked him about possibly coaching someone in the future. Tyson knows how much of a problem he was for Cus D’Amato and he opts to not go through such a hassle. But make no mistake, Mike has a great eye for talent and he will definitely try to champion someone he believes can make it in the sport.

Would Mike Tyson consider coaching someday?

Here’s part of the conversation Mike Tyson had with Rosie Perez in one of the latest episodes of his podcast. It’s interesting to see how he navigates through the answers he is offering: “I don’t have that kind of patience. I’m not gonna wake up every morning, get this guy up, make sure he’s running doing his exercise and all of that stuff.

“I don’t have the time, I have business to do, I don’t have the time to be in the gym every day all day, that’s what a trainer does he’s in the gym that’s the job, every day, all day in the gym. So I’d rather be paid $8 million somewhere than be in the gym every day. Listen when you’re a trainer, you’re a psychiatrist you’re a mother, you’re a father, you’re a step father you’re everything.”
